After his chaotic introductions to the strange owl-god Obscura, the misguided and confused river wizard Rhine, and the suspicious elf Sockel, Hineni continues on with his days of weapon-smithing in the name of the deity he serves and lives with.
However, these days are not mostly peaceful. Dangers roll in as the frog cult, dissatisfied with Hineni’s servitude to the owl-god, makes their irrejectable presence in his life ever more clear, disrupting their business with many schemes and attacks. Meanwhile, along the edges of his vision darts the shadow of the horrific entity, the fowl beast known only as the Big Frog, who finally makes her move.
Under crushing threats from the pond waters, Hineni and his people work to continue to establish themselves as a presence in the city, which is ruled by other, far more prominent gods who seem to be watching them very carefully from a distance for reasons he doesn’t understand yet.
Together with many new faces, the hunt for a secure nest, for the growth of Obscura’s power, and for the Big Frog continues.
Will they manage to work together to move towards their goals? Or will they be consumed by the croaking shadow looming over their heads?
