The very thing they seek to destroy could be the one thing that saves them.
After the destruction brought about by the great Wizard Wars nearly a thousand years ago, the people turned their back on magic. It was deemed evil and those caught using it are taken to the White Tower, never to be seen again.
But is it evil — or is there something much darker taking place?
In the north, a young boy questions the origins of his birth as something within him starts to change. A young girl’s affection for him throws her into the middle of a terrifying battle she can’t possibly hope to win. In the east, a tortured prisoner vows to escape the White Tower in order to save his sister from the hands of a sadistic inquisitor. In the south, an Arch Chancellor will stop at nothing to claim the power he needs to build his secret army of black wielders. In the west, a captain fights to protect his king while shielding the woman he loves from the king’s son.
The world holds balance on the edge of a sword. Can a mere handful of wielders manage to change it? And if so, what will it look like when they’re done?
