KAREN CHILTON is a New York-based Actor/Playwright/Librettist. An award-winning narrator/voiceover artist whose voice can be heard on dozens of audiobooks as well as tv/radio commercial campaigns, she is the recipient of the 2020 AUDIE Award for Non-Fiction Narration for GRACE WILL LEAD US HOME: The Charleston Church Massacre and the Hard, Inspiring Journey to Forgiveness by Jennifer Berry Hawes. In 2021, she received Audiofile Earphones Awards for her performances of THE PROPHETS by Robert Jones, Jr., THE LOVE SONGS OF W.E.B. DUBOIS by Honoree Fanonne Jeffers (Audible’s Best Audiobooks of 2021 list), EARTHA & KITT by Kitt Shapiro an Patricia Weiss Levy (Audiofile’s Best Audiobook 2021-Memoir), LEAVING BREEZY STREET by Brenda Myers- Powell, and MAKE GOOD THE PROMISES edited by Kinshasha Holman Conwill. She is author of the critically-acclaimed biography HAZEL SCOTT: The Pioneering Journey of a Jazz Pianist (University of Michigan Press); the audiobook version is narrated by the author. She holds a M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from NYU-Tisch School of the Arts.
