**Kyla García (aka Tucaya) **she/her: is a poet, actor, director, and artivist based in unceded Tongva land. She believes stories are medicine and fuses her voice, art, and activism to make the ancestors proud.  Fun facts: Kyla originated the role of Sarah Ridge Polson in Mary Kathryn Nagle’s _Sovereignty_ at Arena Stage where she performed for Gloria Steinem and Ruth Bader Ginsberg.  She found her voice as an artist after creating the acclaimed one-woman show _The Mermaid Who Learned How to Fly_ which was also adapted into an audiobook.  She is a 3x Audie-nominated and 14x Earphones Award-winning narrator who has narrated over 275 audiobooks to date.  Recent TV: NBC's _New Amsterdam_, the forthcoming _Spirit Rangers_ on Netflix, and _The Exchange_ streaming on Amazon. Kyla’s activism led her to becoming the ambassador and co-designer of the Batey Girl's _Sovereignty_ bracelet; 90% of proceeds benefit young girls and women who have survived trafficking and domestic violence on Taíno land in Kiskeya (DR); 10% of each sale benefits the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center.  When she’s not in the booth, behind or in front of the camera, you can find Kyla volunteering with rescued wolves or performing onstage at the Nuyorican Poet’s Café. [](
