Amir Abdullah

Amir (Jamal Roque) is an accomplished narrator and actor born in Atlanta and raised in Duval and Miami, Florida- where he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Miami before finishing his Masters in Fine Arts in Acting at Pennsylvania State University.  His work on the novel Black Boy Joy landed on many Best of 2021 Audiobook lists including in Audiofile Magazine. Most known for Kwame Mbalia’s Tristan Strong trilogy, other highlights include being featured on Four Hundred Souls edited by Ibram X. Kendi, I Got There by JeVon McCormick and narrating Dr. Ian K. Smith’s Ashe Cayne detective series and in addition to the sensuous romance novels Digging Up Love and Chosen By A Miami King.  One of his greatest strengths is his ability to find the voice of a character or real person and truly define their point of view, and give them a life that lifts the characters beyond imagination and into real “People” or “creatures” that are alive with clear objectives. Also his accent work, and finding choices that are sustainable throughout the entire read are other major strengths of his work. RP-English Accent, Southern, Bostonian, West African, American, South African, and Egyptian accents are what he''s most at home doing, but has a range that can extend beyond these accents.  Outside of the booth, he has been seen on TV most notably on Empire and Chicago Med, and on stages across the country including The Geffen Playhouse and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
